About me
We always had family dogs-the first one I remember was a Corgi called Tina and she was my companion as I grew up, guarding my pram and was a constant companion. She taught me respect for animals as she would only take so much before putting me in my place as a small person.
Later we had a Lurcher called Shadow-my dog-and then Corgis-Sue and Mac. Mac was my dog, a tri-colour, who introduced me to obedience and was the first dog I took to a show. My life revolved around him and my horses, Flow,Hopeful and Star throughout my teenage years.
When I went to work with horses Mac came too and we spent all our time together-whilst I worked and rode Mac went mousing with the yard cat (a formidable team in the feed store).
When I got married and went to work in the pub trade my first Belgian Shepherd, Duke, arrived. Having seen an impressive photo in an Our Dogs annual of a line of Tervueren posing for the camera, I was smitten. This was in 1981 and Tervueren then were very different to those of today-heavier in type with more stop and big coats, deep red, with a lot of overlay.
Duke-officially Kyann Diamondraught, was bred by Ann and Bob Older, was to fire my passion for the Belgian Shepherd in its four varieties.
